[AlternaTIFF :: ActiveX installation]

AlternaTIFF ActiveX auto-installation for Internet Explorer

Before you install: AlternaTIFF will configure itself to be Internet Explorer's default TIFF file viewer, but it cannot prevent other applications from changing that setting in the future. If QuickTime, or some other ActiveX TIFF viewer, is installed on your computer, your best bet is to turn off TIFF support in that application before installing AlternaTIFF. Here are instructions about QuickTime. Most other imaging applications do not include an ActiveX control for Internet Explorer, and therefore do not need to be reconfigured.

To install, click this link: Auto-install AlternaTIFF ActiveX control.
You may wish to scroll down and read the rest of this page first.

It should take about one minute to download AlternaTIFF over a modem connection.

If you have applied Windows XP Service Pack 2, an additional step may be necessary in order to start the download. Just follow the instructions given by Internet Explorer.

After AlternaTIFF is downloaded, you should see a security warning similar to one of the images shown below.

You must click the Install or Yes button to install AlternaTIFF in this way.

After installation, if you have never installed AlternaTIFF on your computer before, you will need to register AlternaTIFF. If that is the case, you will see the message "TIFF viewer not registered. Click here to register." at the bottom of this page. Click where it says to, and follow the instructions.

When you see the message "the AlternaTIFF ActiveX control is installed in your browser" at the bottom of this page, you're done.
